Kwikset SmartCode 260 Factory Reset Guide

If your Kwikset SmartCode 260 isn’t working properly, or you’ve moved into a home where the lock was previously used, performing a factory reset is often the best solution. A factory reset removes all existing user codes and restores the lock to its default settings, allowing you to set it up from scratch.

After every factory reset, you must run the door handing detection process. This allows the lock to learn the orientation of your door and determine whether it is left-handed or right-handed.

  1. Press the Programming Button once.
  2. On the keypad, press 0.
  3. Press the Lock Button.
  4. The deadbolt will automatically extend and retract.
